  • We are into Leviticus in our "Bible in a Year" readings. Sometimes the old testament is sooo boring. I see why I have had such a hard time getting through the Bible whenever I've tried to read it before. I have never actually read the entire Bible. I will do it this time.

Anyway, in reading about all the different types of sacrifices, it dawned on my how thankful I am that Christ died for me and freed me from that bondage. Mosaic law required a burnt offering, and a grain offering, and a peace offering, and a trespass offering (which still sounds to me like it is for sinning). In Leviticus 5:10, "'And he shall offer the second (turtle dove) as a burnt offering according to the prescribed manner. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin which he has sinned, and it shall be forgiven." The priest made atonement for you sins before Christ came along, using a burnt offering. With all the rules of uncleanness and all the offerings that had to be made, life would be extremely cumbersome. Thank God Jesus came and took away those requirements for salvation. Now we only have to believe that Jesus died for our sins and ask forgiveness. Much easier than dragging rams, or sheep, or goats, or turtle doves, to the Temple.

John's surgery went well yesterday. He says this is the worst his arm has hurt since he broke it, and he can move his fingers less now than before because of the type of splint (more like a half cast) he is in for the next week or so. Depending on how that heals, he may get into a velcro splint on Monday. At least that one he can take off to shower and whatnot. Apparently he bled pretty good from where they took the pins out. He said he can feel the stickiness of it under the gauze. He goes back Monday for a follow-up, and to discuss physical therapy. I also found out yesterday that County Relief has funds left for orthopoedics. They only pay up to $1000, but that's still $1000 less that we have to pay if we qualify. They have income guidelines, so I'm not sure if we will qualify for it, but we will try. God is good. John was saying there wasn't any point for applying for it if they only paid $1000, but I told him if we get $1000 paid here and $500 paid there and $700 paid here, before you know it that bill will be down to little of nothing. God never promises he will take care of things all at one time, just that he will take care of things.

    I love God!!!

  • Good morning, Deb!

Yes, some of those old testament books can be real sleepers!  I was intrigued with Genesis, though.  It kept me on the edge of my seat!  Glad the surgery went well.  Hope you qualify for the fund for surgery.  That would be great if you would have that much less to pay.

Hope you have a great day! ~~Suzanne

  • SO glad the surgery went well DEB..amen!

And I also thought the old test. to be so boring in my early walk with God.....but the more I get to know it and the more people bring light to various parts of it and show me things in it...the more interested I become in know ing what it stands for...amen.

HAVE a blessed and beautiful day.....with love Robin

  • Did you notice in Leviticus, it is the worshipper that is to slay the animal, not the priests?  I had missed that little detail the first few times.  We must all come to the Father on our own.  No one can do that for us.  Glad John is doing good.
