Just a quick, quick praise. God is so good. The subject of money and savings came up between John and I yesterday morning. It has been on my heart for some time that I need to be tithing, but knowing how John felt about giving 10% to the church, I was afraid to broach the subject. I have been tithing in secret to him for a couple of months, $10 here and $20 there, when I had it in my pocket to give. But yesterday, he brought up how we should split whatever is left after paying the bills (usually not much), put half of that into savings and then split the other half between us to do whatever we want. So while we were on the subject, I brought up about how I have felt moved to tithe. After a great deal of discussion, including the "you'll have to stop eating out so much" speech (did I tell you that would be coming?), he agreed to let me pay tithes on our net income. I tried talking him into gross, but he kept arguing about that, so I gave in thankful to be getting what I am, knowing that God will understand and hoping that as time goes by God will change his heart to see we need to give "first fruits." He argued that Jesus said to render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and he takes that to mean "pay your taxes and debts." I told him I was certain that if we were to faithfully pay tithes, God would see to it our bills were paid, and if that meant I had to sacrifice eating out, I would. We are limiting our dining out to once each payday - no more.
Isn't God wonderful? Those of you who know John know this is a HUGE victory. I love God, and I love my husband.
John has his second surgery this morning to remove his hardware. I had one lady tell me it wasn't really surgery since they don't have to cut him again, but they are calling it surgery and they are putting him under to do this. I am sure he will be very glad to get these bars and bolts out of his arm. Now maybe he can sleep without having his arm slung out of the bed across a hamper; and he'll be able to zip his coat.
Gonna be a busy day today. I have to figure taxes and withholding and get those paid as soon as I get back to work. For now, I need to go brush the snow off my car and get breakfast in me. We have to be at the hospital at 7 a.m.
God Bless!!
