  • Today was an absolutely gorgous day. We were up in the 50s today and it was wonderful. I worked an 8-hour volunteer shift at the women's shelter, than about 3 hours at the office. It was a long day.

Yesterday we went to see The Passion of the Christ. It was stupendous. I expected to be leaving the theater in tears, but I did not. I didn't shed a single tear, but I can tell you that my body was shaking like it had been through trauma.

The movie was definitely graphic, but I think that the gore was no worse than the slasher movies that have been out in the past 20 years. I think it was actually well-done and necessary to make it truthful. The worst part for me was when the cat-o-nine tails slashed into Jesus' skin.

I absolutely loved the way Gibson portrayed Satan. Satan was beautifully ambiguous. You weren't sure whether he was male or female. The Bible says that angels are neither male nor female. It also says that Satan was God's most beautiful angel and he was certainly beautiful in the movie. I did catch that Satan was always lurking in the background. In nearly every seen, with the exception of the flashbacks Jesus had, Satan was around. Very nicely portrayed.

It doesn't sound like John's heart was touched much. Seeds. For every seed planted, there is more of a chance the plant will grow.
